Spiber’s Brewed Protein fibre was chosen by Kering’s Material Innovation Lab (MIL) and the Fondazione Pitti Discovery as the protagonist material of the 7th edition of ‘S|Style Sustainable Style’.  It consists of Spiber’s fermented protein fibres, i.e. circular protein materials grown in a laboratory and produced through microbial fermentation. Among the selected brands that presented exclusive collections made with Brewed Protein™ fibre are young n sang – a South Korean menswear line known for its exceptional hand-weaving techniques – and Cavia – an Italian brand based in Milan and famous for its re-use and upcycling of garments. For the first time, both brands unveiled their collections to the public in the exhibition at the Fondazione Pitti Discovery, offering a tangible example of how technology can reduce the fashion industry’s impact on the environment, replacing traditional petrochemical-based materials and production methods with innovative, bio-based solutions, while offering products of exceptional beauty and pleasantness to the touch.
