“Italy is an attractive market, its consumers are extremely receptive and online sales are quickly rising. – declared Jan Bartels – Moreover, the further localization of operations will allow us to bring our offering closer to Italians”.

The hub, which will be up and running at the end of 2019, will employ around 1000 new workers and will serve both the Italian market and those close to Northern Italy.

The German e-tailer, with a 4.5 billion euro annual turnover, in addition to its two Italian hubs, has another three active in Germany, in Erfurt, Mönchengladbach, and Lahr, along with two in Poland, in Stettino and Lodz. Its next plans for expansions will target Ireland and the Czech Republic, bringing the number of markets where Zalando is present to a total of 17 destinations.
