It is the first time that MICAM Americas is postponed from August to end of September: Informa Markets, the organisational body of the event that will be held in conjunction with Magic and Project, decided to postpone the events to the new show dates scheduled from 29 September to 1 October. Hosting them will always be the Las Vegas Convention Centre, which on the occasion will be updated to comply with the suggested health and safety guidelines recommended by the CDC.
The organisers define it as a “delicately balanced decision”: the Informa Markets show has traditionally been held in August to align itself with the fashion industry’s buying cycles, while the new show dates is a response to reopening plans across the country, as well as to shifts in the buying season
“We know that our community is eager to connect again. – declares Nancy Walsh, President of Informa Fashion Markets – We also know our partner brands and retailers put a lot of effort into the logistics of exhibiting at or attending one of our shows. We believe it is in the best interest of our community to postpone the show at this time, in order to review the situation on an on-going basis. At the same time, we believe it is our responsibility to the industry we serve to move forward and provide an opportunity for some form of business continuity while we reassess and work through what fashion business looks like in a post COVID-19 world”.
The show design will be guided by physical distancing guidelines, crowd-control measures, and enhanced cleaning protocols. Additionally, Informa Markets will make enhanced digital products available to members of the trade to help retailers and brands do business both on and off the show floor.
