A woman’s shoe inspired by the surface of a comet. A project not easy to wear, but that definitely leaves everyone positively perplexed.

Studio Swine (Super Wide Interdisciplinary New Explorers) is an Anglo-Japanese design studio making truly extraordinary projects able to investigate the most unusual and unexpected paths of luxury, which in the future will definitely be lost. Co-founded by the architect Azusa Murakami and the artist Alexander Groves, the studio is based on research-led design that is the product of a region, its culture and resources. The studio operates across a wide range of disciplines and it has worked with various clients such as Veuve Clicquot, Microsoft, Heineken, just to name a few. One of its most interesting projects is the comet shoe. A rock that has fallen from space… with high heels. Microsoft suggested creating an object inspired by the landing of the Philae lander module on Comet 67P and Swine took up the challenge without thinking twice. It researched the object at the Natural History Museum, considered to have the best meteorite collection in the world, which led to the creation of a shoe made of aluminium foam, a light yet robust material very similar to that of a comet.
