At 45 years from its foundation, the event presents itself as more dynamic than ever before, with the ability to attract important buyers from the domestic market and from more than 60 different countries worldwide, thanks to the qualified selection of the show and the ability of Couromoda to reinvent itself and intercept on-going changes in the global market of footwear. Among the brands on show are names like Beira Rio, Arezzo, Dumond, Jorge Bischoff, Carrano, Suzana Santos, Pampili, Bibi, Democrata, and Pegada…

At the inauguration, Francisco Santos, founder of the event, spoke fondly of its history, starting with its founding year of 1973 in Rio De Janeiro, and subsequent transfer to São Paulo, which saw it first hosted at Parque Anhenbi and then at its most recent location of Expo Center Norte. Adventurous years, which allowed it to grow at the same rate as the Brazilian footwear industry. On this same occasion, first the mayor of São Paulo and then the Governor of the State, Geraldo Alkmin, explained the importance of the event for the economy of the city and the state of São Paulo, as well as the role that it has played in reinforcing the growth of the national footwear industry.

Over the next three days, Couromoda will host workshops, negotiations, delegations of buyers and the international press invited by Abicalçados, the Brazilian Footwear Industries Association, in collaboration with Apex (the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency), but also a full calendar of seminars dedicated to the most relevant sector themes: from fashion trends and retail to visual merchandising, all the way up to the digital world that is now making its breakthrough into the footwear industry.

Taking place in conjunction with Couromoda in São Paulo will also be Prêt-à-porter, the fair dedicated to the fashion, apparel, and accessories industry, which is now in its 8th edition with a selection of more than 50 firms.
