dsc_4924Good news arrives from theMICAM, which ends its 83rd edition registering a total of 44,610 visitors, 26,505 of which were from abroad: a +5% visitor turnout in absolute terms, and +8% in foreign visitors.
A success that was not completely unexpected, heralding the hoped for return of Russian and Ukraine buyers, who respectively registered +18% and +20%, as some of the most important partners to Made in Italy. The best performance among visitors however went to South Korea, which registered +53%, thus confirming the growing attention given over to Italian footwear by this part of the Far East.

Unanimous was also the positive feedback on the new theMICAM proposal: the restyling of the halls dedicated to luxury was popular, with the three new special areas dedicated to interaction and image. The Fashion Square showcased designer names like Fendi, Ferragamo, Gucci, Prada and Tod’s which, with their presence, created a glamorous atmosphere for the proposals in this area.
At the same time, this area also hosted the new Emerging Designers’ space dedicated to new talents in footwear. The Men’s Square instead featured the leading brands in men’s footwear, while the Style Square presented the proposals of International Designers.

“The curtain has fallen on a historic edition of theMICAM. Today, more than ever before, our event confirms itself as a point of reference in the worldwide market of footwear and the most prestigious showcase for re-launching Made in Italy. This year we realized a dream, by following through not only with a new exhibition project, which is even more glamorous and functional, but also forging an important synergy with players in fashion, thus allowing us to take a critical step forward towards a new era”

declared Annarita Pilotti, President of Assocalzaturifici.
Enriching the exhibition, which showcased the Fall/Winter 2017-18 collections presented by 1,405 exhibitors, 610 of which were foreign, were also the fashion shows and seminars dedicated to fashion and retail staged by WGSN in theMICAMSquare and, for the first time, also the iKIDSQUARE for children footwear.

The next edition of theMICAM will be held from 17 to 20 September 2017, for the presentation of the Spring-Summer 2018 collections.
