After last year’s reforestation of an area of 16.2 hectares, the shoe company in Detmold, Germany, has pledged to provide the regional Lippe Association with a total of EUR 125,000 over the next five years to restore damaged trees in the surrounding forest areas. This initiative is in addition to the German Group’s green project, which includes remote heating, the Lippe’s largest rooftop photovoltaic system with self-consumption, a fleet of e-smart and e-bikes for employees, and the use of sustainable materials in shoe production. Last year, the Wortmann Group won two major sustainability awards for its use of innovative and resource-saving materials made from algae and mushrooms, and is now the market leader in vegan women’s shoes.
