Shoes of the future on show in Vigevano up to 10 December. An exhibition that the Ducal city, home of footwear, dedicates to international young designers

Technique is not enough to create great shoe, you need style, creative talent and passion. This is very obvious to the young footwear designers who will take part in the “Visitors and Natives – Shoes and talent of tomorrow” exhibition scheduled for 14 September to 10 December in Vigevano in the “Seconda Scuderia dei Castello Sforzesco” in the town.

The event is intended to give a view on the world that in Vigevano, historically connected with footwear and its whole culture, finds an exceptional framework. In the Ducal city, that housed the first Italian shoemaking industry and the first Italian Footwear Fair, the past and present of the footwear industry entwine to pay homage to the creative spark of which shoe design is born.

Organized by the Footwear Museum of the Council of Vigevano, backed by Assocalzaturifici and the Province of Pavia, “Visitors and Natives” shows footwear by fifty talented young designers divided between “natives”, Italians of various experience and training, and international “visitors” from different parts of the world. Some have already debuted on the market, such as Sarah Flint who is already established in the United States with the brand that carries her name, or Heather Williams who creates footwear collections for important brands like Reebok, Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger, as well as other designers such as Shaowei Wu who have shown promising talent. Three different approaches but all united by the fact that they have attended courses at the Ars Sutoria School .
