Mario Moretti Polegato, Presidente e fondatore di Geox

Mario Moretti Polegato, president and founder of Geox, made these remarks on the temporary suspension of its direct stores (150) in Italy: “Never before has it been necessary to team up. Institutions, businesses, each and every citizen must come together to deal with this emergency. As a company, we feel a strong responsibility towards all employees, consumers and their families who go to our stores. In order to concretely contribute to the collective effort of the country, we therefore decided to temporarily close our stores in Italy. We are solid and, after this difficult period, I am absolutely positive for the future of Geox, our sector and the country”.
And the need to do their part was also expressed with a substantial donation, one million euro, by the Polegato family – Mario Moretti Polegato and Enrico Moretti Polegato, presidents of Geox and Diadora respectively.
“In this historical moment that Italy and Veneto are experiencing – they explain in a note – it is a moral duty to support our doctors and nurses, every day at the forefront, in the fight against an invisible yet fearful enemy that makes us all equal, vulnerable and defenceless. With this gesture we also want to express our closeness and our support – they conclude – to all those individuals, and their families, who are suffering and fighting the virus”.
The applause of the President of the Region, Luca Zaia, was almost immediate, underlining the importance that also Italian footwear entrepreneurs are playing in the fight against the virus.
