In 2012, Xavier De Le Rue and Lucas Debari, together with The North Face, went on a spectacular expedition to Antarctica

The North Face®, a leader in cutting-edge outdoor equipment celebrates the return of the athletes, Xavier De Le Rue (FRA), Lucas Debari (USA) and a crew of videographers and photographers, from the trip of a lifetime in discovery of Antarctica.

After a year of preparation, the trip lasted 30 days, sailing from the Falklands up through the Drake Passage until reaching the fjords of the Antarctic Peninsula on board a 20-meter boat. The team discovered a paradise of steep icebergs to ride with the snowboard between the sky and ice, surrounded by rich landscapes and pristine wildlife.

Partner of the expedition was the European-built full crampon mountaineering boot with exclusive CradleTM technology for impact control and heel protection. The Aerogel® Insulation technology used in space suits keeps the toes, heel and underfoot warm while reducing bulk. The Vibram® sole and full carbon fibre shank offer stability and precision whilst climbing.
