Sergio Rossi

He had been hospitalized for a few days at the Cesena hospital because of Covid-19, but his clinical picture precipitated within a few hours. At the age of 84 leaves us the first dean of the San Mauro Pascoli shoe district: Sergio Rossi.
The entrepreneur of San Mauro Pascoli, founder of the shoe factory that bears his name, has always shown an unconditional love for shoes, ever since he was 14 years old when he learned the craft directly on the field from his father who was a shoemaker, to then open his own factory in the early 1950s.
Sergio Rossi’s international rise is marked by collaborations with important fashion protagonists, including a very young Gianni Versace. The company he founded was purchased in 1999 by the Gucci Group, while in 2015 the brand returned to Italy following its acquisition by Andrea Bonomi’s Investindustrial fund.
Together with Gimmi Baldinini, Quinto Casadei and Vittorio Pollini he has represented to a large extent the best of Italian footwear, the most creative and whimsical part.
Being able to create and savoir-fair is what he wanted to pass on to young people by participating in the founding of the Romagna school for footwear manufacturers Cercal.
This is how the family greets him, to whom we express our condolences: «With the unquenchable fire of your passion, you taught us that there are no limits for those who love what they do. Goodbye master».
