The MÄVINN collection comprises 19 home accessories – from baskets and carpets to bags and cushion covers – and is intended to emphasise the craftsmanship of the people by whom they are carefully handmade. Each product is unique, differing from the others in shape and size, and stems from IKEA’s collaboration with seven social enterprises committed to providing long-term employment for the most vulnerable groups in the territories in which they operate: Classical Handmade Products in Bangladesh; Spun, Ramesh Flowers and Industree P.T. in India; Saitex in Vietnam; and Doi Tung in Thailand. The collection consists of items made from cotton, surplus materials used in the production of denim and natural fibres, such as paper made from the bark of mulberry trees, jute and banana fibre, and the natural fibre materials were chosen for their strength and renewability characteristics.
