Among the most highly celebrated initiatives in this sense, were the statement t-shirts of stylist Vivienne Westwood with her anti-consumerism declarations and criticisms regarding climate change… Now, the same thing is being done with shoes: Marco Massetti, Marches stylist, who with his collection “Human Rights Sneakers” wanted to make his voice heard in favour human rights. Presented last December 9th and 10th at ONU in Ginevra, the collection will destine part of its proceeds to the Onlus Association for Human Rights and Tolerance for the realization of humanitarian projects in Italy and around the world.
“Footwear is the most powerful category on the online market thanks to sneakers and new generations of consumers – declares Massetti -. The symbolism of the sneaker has been changing, as its functionality has become more important. This project will raise awareness among young consumers on meaningful issues, such as respect for human rights”.
