The environmental awareness of consumers grows along with the demand for a more eco-friendly packaging by the fashion industry. This is confirmed by a survey conducted by Global Data: the aim of a growing number of big names in the fashion system – from the leading company VF Corporation that includes brands like The North Face, Timberland and Vans with its 2025 green packaging initiative, up to the pilot projects of retailers like H&M and Mango – is to contrast the devastating effect that disposable plastic or paper packaging has on the environment. This crisis has been made even worse by the unstoppable phenomenon of fast fashion and by the boom in online shopping seen during the months of the pandemic. New awareness accordingly closes the circle of sustainability and next to a “green” garment, aims to reduce the impact of this part of the supply chain for the planet’s well-being.
