The first stopover of the Doucal’s women’s collection inspired by New York is Wall Street, the heart of the city’s financial district, with the monkey shoe that becomes an iconic accessory, in needlefelt suede, with chromatic contrasts between the outsole and upper, or in brushed calfskin for a total black effect. There are then moccasins, loafers, and derby shoes borrowed from the men’s wardrobe, which evolve in their volumes and shapes, and especially in the rubber sole that raises the heel up. Finally, there is the Chelsea boot, always with a voluminous outsole, expressed in materials like plain and hammered calfskin matched with tweed and herringbone fabrics.
For walks in Central Park, the model of reference is the Serena sneaker with sheepskin inserts and ghillie fastenings, which however omit the use of hooks. There is then the Flighter Sneaker with extralight outsole featuring a matte and rugged effect, asymmetric, yet soft, volumes, uppers that play around with the contrasts of glossy calfskin and suedes, in the colour block version of burgundy and dusky pink.
The journey ends in the East Village with new suede monkey boots featuring sheepskin linings, ghillie fastenings and waterproof treatments.
