Vans glamouring Bowie
At three years from the demise of the unforgettable and multifaceted creative genius of David Bowie (who passed away on 10 January 2018), Vans pays tribute to him by creating a capsule collection in his honour that takes its inspiration from Bowie’s glam rock albums.
Four models to celebrate the glam rock epic of David Bowie, which take their inspiration from the colours and textures of his most beloved LPs. Thus, the 47 V DX slip-on brings us back to the splendour of the 1971 album Hunky Dory, reproducing the checked blouse of Bowie in the fur and the yellow of his hair in the suede. There is then the revamping of the unmistakable polka dots of the 1971 album Space Oddity. Next, the Old School shoe reproduces the red and turquoise lightning bolts of the glam make-up used by Bowie on the cover of his 1973 album Aladdin Sane. Finally, the SK8-Hi pays homage to Bowie’s 1976 Station to Station with its black & white textures. The collection will be available on Vans website starting from 5 April.
