Hanwag shoes are designed to last a lifetime and are handcrafted, following two excellent craftsmanship techniques: the construction with the special layer-by-layer assembly, allows the shoe to be completely reshaped after several years, and the double stitching makes it a long-lasting shoe.
The key to the success of Hanwag lies in the ability to offer perfect products in all weather conditions and on any type of terrain, but above all to ensure maximum comfort and performance even to all those who do not have a “standard” foot shape.
Since 2004, the company has been part of the Fenix Outdoor Group, together with the brands Primus, Brunton, Tierra and Fjällräven, with which it shares a vision strongly based on sustainability and protection of the natural environment.
FERRATA II (10% lighter than its predecessor) uses even less leather, which has instead been replaced with highly-functional modern materials. It’s engineered with innovative Hanwag TubeTec Rock sole technology at its foundation. TubeTec technology uses an extremely cushioning polyurethane (PU) midsole material and protects it for rugged mountain use with a “tube” made of robust thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). The special design with TPU ribs and reinforcements ensure tread stability and traction. TPU reinforcements also create a climbing zone at the sole for maximum edging stability. Vibram Mont compound and Hanwag Integral Light tread design ensure reliable grip and traction.
