Pitti Uomo: dynamic and ‘optical’The appointment of reference for menswear and high-end lifestyles will see the participation of 1,240 brands, 561 of which hail from abroad (45% of the total), with a revamped layout of the exhibition spaces and a rich calendar of prestigious events.
It starts with the special guest of this 94th edition, Roberto Cavalli, which with its runway show at Certosa del Galuzzo launches its first men’s collection designed by new Creative Director Paul Surridge.
The guest designer of Pitti Uomo will instead be Craig Green, who will present his new summer collection with an exclusive runway show, mixing workwear influences and futuristic volumes, while the casualwear concept will be the protagonist of the project staged by Japanese fashion designer, Fumito Ganryu. Pitti Uomo will then shine the spotlights not only on new international talents, with 17 collections designed by Scandinavian stylists in the Strozzi Arena, but also on ‘Make, the new makers’, with its promotion of exclusive international craft workmanship in the Sala del Rondino, and Georgia as the new Guest Nation: at the same time, this edition will honour Italian heritage, with the celebrations of Lardini for its 40 years of activity and the event Library dedicated to Herno’s 70th anniversary. Next, space will be given to the combination of art and fashion, with the inauguration of the ‘Fanatic feelings – Fashion Plays Football’ exhibition on show in the Complesso di Santa Maria Novella until 22 July. Other special events to watch for are the inauguration of two new rooms at the Gucci Garden Galleria located inside the historic Palazzo della Mercanzia, along with the first collection of the Moncler Genius project and the MCM showcase, both of which will be held in the Fortezza da Basso.
Always in the Fortezza, we will find the new ‘Go Out’ project in the Sala della Ronda, dedicated to research on outdoor styles, while luxury underground meets athleisure in the Unconventional section, enriched by the ‘Athlovers’ project, with brands that interpret the new scope of sophisticated activewear. In terms of footwear, there will be the Birkenstock event-fashion show in the Giardini Torrigiani. The title-theme of this summer edition will be optical pop art, ready to welcome the 19 thousand forecasted visitors with the motto ‘P.O.P. Pitti Optical Power’!
