The 85th edition of Pitti Bimbo was characterized by a slight downtrend in turnout, registering 5,300 buyers out of a total of 10 thousand visitors: notwithstanding the drop in attendance levels, among the stands of 548 brands was a feeling of optimism.

Contributing to this sentiment was the quality and increased number of foreign buyers, with extremely positive performances by markets like Russia (+16%), China (+45%), Holland (+25%), Ukraine (+24%) and Austria (+22%). There was also an increase in the number of visitors from Germany, Brazil, Portugal, and from countries in the Middle East, which compensated for the drop in the domestic market.

The atmosphere was positive – commented Raffaello Napoleone, Pitti Immagine CEO at the end of the event – in the stands we witnessed a constant rotation of back-to-back business meetings, presentations, and events for buyers and the press, in a spirit of all-around confidence. Many positive comments arrived also for the special guests, re-entries, and launchings hosted at this edition – including the participation of Dolce & Gabbana and Roberto Cavalli Junior with their projects and events, and the launching of the Emilio Pucci line – all of which were of an extremely high profile. Likewise there was much positive feedback on the new projects and sections dedicated to research and lifestyle trends, which with each new season extend their borders to include the children’s universe.

At the show, an increasing number of brands in the accessories section, and especially in footwear, was quite evident, with more than fifty brands and names on display, including some of the biggest leaders in the sector like Primigi and Naturino, designer labels, and names in sportswear. Among the exhibitors, the re-entry of Giuseppe Junior, the kids’ line by stylist Giuseppe Zanotti, was also a big hit.
