It bears the name of the coldest, most unforgiving side of a mountain. It helped explorers reach the most unfathomable heights of the Himalayas, for example. But, ironically, the legend of The North Face® began on a beach. More precisely, San Francisco’s North Beach neighborhood, at an altitude of only 45 meters above sea level. It was here that two hiking enthusiasts decided to turn their passion into a small mountaineering retail store. Soon thereafter, that little shop became known as The North Face, a retailer of high-performance climbing and backpacking equipment. It was 1966.

The North Face, a division of VF Outdoor, Inc., has recently turned 50 and has celebrated the anniversary with the global campaign “Question Madness”. The stars of the 2016 digital campaign are the athletes who have been part of the brand’s history, who have always tried to overcome limits, finding enthusiasm and great satisfaction in their extraordinary exploits, becoming a source of inspiration for others, encouraging them to put themselves to the test.
