Having come to an end on March 6th, the third edition of the fair organized by Ifema in Halls 5 and 7 of Feria di Madrid celebrated the 20-plus percent rise in foreign visitors recorded out of a total of 5,126 sector professionals. The main countries of reference at the fair were Russia, Ukraine, Middle East, Chile, Columbia, and Mexico, which were also involved in an ambitious project dedicated to buyers.

It is exactly on the basis of the results regarding participation that the Director of the fair, Jaime de la Figuera, counts on being able to reinforce the role of the Show over the next few editions; something that is all the more so possible today since it is considered the main fair of reference for Made in Spain footwear on an international level:

We have the opportunity to reinforce our leadership as the main event for Spanish footwear worldwide, but we need to have greater involvement from all the players making up the footwear industry in Spain, starting with companies and retailers – commented Jaime de la Figuera.

In particular, there is an attempt to conquer the loyalty of businesses that are not yet involved and increase the number of visitors coming from key areas in the sector, like for example Basque Country and Catalonia. For this reason, during the month of June, some presentations will be organized in these two regions, offering special benefits to the companies involved, next to new actions aimed at marketing. At the same time, Momad Shoes is working to create new exhibition areas in the complex and a more efficient program aimed at international buyers.

Returning to the edition that ended this past March, a total of 520 exhibitors and footwear/accessory brands participated in an area of 9 thousand square meters, with 77% made up by Spanish brands and coming in particular from the region of Valencia. Among the exhibiting companies were especially noteworthy names like Mascaró, Pons Quintana, Pura Lopez Robert Clergerie, Chie Mihara, Pepe Milan, Pertini, Luisetti, Victoria, Exé, Xti, Coolway, El Naturalista, Mustang, Vidorreta, and Gant. International exhibitors instead mostly came from Portugal, Italy, France, United Kingdom, and Germany.

Hall 5 welcomed the latest developments in urban, athletic, and fashion footwear in the space Urban & Young, while the Casual area in Hall 7 featured the latest proposals regarding footwear dedicated to leisure time and comfort.

Always in Hall 7, brands of handcrafted footwear proposed their latest collections in the Contemporary section, while the trendiest footwear and bag proposals of leading designer names were showcased in the Metro Area. Hall 7 also proposed brands of sustainable fashion, a segment that seems to be increasingly independent at the Show and making headway, with names like El Naturalista, Kayak Storm, Lofs, Suela, Laloba, and Bricoshoes.

Finally, in reference to the Kids’ segment, it was presented in the area connecting Halls 5 and 7, with brands like Acebos, Chetto, Duvic, Gioseppo, and Mayoral.

Last, but not least, the exhibition offering of Momad Shoes was enriched by an extensive program of related activities taking place in conjunction, including the Momad Forum and Momad Moda Lab, the new live fashion shows, and various exhibitions and initiatives dealing with the world of footwear.

The next edition will be held from 22 to 24 September 2017, with the presentation of the collections for the Spring-Summer 2018.
