On its Brazilian website, the gold-green brand presents its new SS 2019 collaboration with Sanrio, featuring the most widely celebrated kitty worldwide, who is actually not a kitty at all, as its protagonist. Hello Kitty is in fact the manga representation of an English girl named Kitty White, created by the hand of designer Yuko Shimizu in 1974; a kind of ‘caricature’, which nevertheless became the lifetime companion to millions of girls and women around the world, while also inspiring the works of famous artists and designers. Melissa proposes a collection of slip-ons with the iconic star and her red ribbon, alongside Be/Hello Kitty sneakers, with the face of Hello Kitty applied to the shoelaces, while the rear part of the shoe features a detail with the combined logo of the collaboration.
Pitti Bimbo will also pay tribute to Hello Kitty, who celebrates her 45th birthday in 2019, and does so with a special project curated by Alessandro Enriquez in the Main Pavilion of the Fortezza da Basso, with the presentation of the children’s capsule collection dedicated to Hello Kitty and created not only by Melissa, but also by other renowned brands like Monnalisa and MC2 Saint Barth.
