The recent store closings of this United States-based sportswear chain follow the 147 stores closed in 2017, reconfirming the serious crisis that the large-scale retail channel is experiencing, also because of the competition it is facing from large e-tailers.

“We continue to prune the fleet of under-productive stores and open a few select, high-profile stores,” commented Footlocker CFO Lauren Peters, after her 2o17 year-end presentation, which outlined a turnover more or less unvaried at 7.8 billion dollars (+0.2% over the previous year), in contrast to a 3.1% drop in sales and net profit, which passed from 664 million dollars in 2016 to 284 million in 2017.
