A slight drop in turnout characterized the 58th edition of Aymod, the international trade exhibition for footwear, which was held at the CNR Expo Yesilkoy in Istanbul from 4 to 7 October 2017. Commentators speak of a general drop in attendance by both exhibitors and visitors: nevertheless, this did not influence the level of dynamism found among the stands and the drop-off in numbers saw quality favoured over quantity.  mago-shoes

In terms of exhibitors, all the main Turkish footwear brands participated, including in particular I Nuovo and La Pinta, with owner Abdul Sabur Endican having just been nominated Vice President of TASD, the Footwear Industrialists Association of Turkey. However, also foreign exhibitors were present, from the largest European manufacturers, to those from the Middle East and Eastern Europe. In terms of visitors, buyers and sector professionals arrived from throughout the entire Mediterranean area, the Middle East, Russia, and the Central Asian Federations to participate. artigiano

Alongside the exhibition, Aymod made Turkish footwear the protagonist of a series of initiatives. The most striking was the installation of a series of artisanal footwear laboratories in the fair’s halls, where expert Turkish shoemakers did a live demonstration on the hand crafting of Turkish traditional footwear. The same location also hosted the show of Turkish footwear spanning from the Ottoman era to present-day times, along with a space dedicated to the works of young designers from the University of Istanbul.

The 59th edition of Aymod will be held from 4 to 7 April 2018.
